Tri Delta Announces Partnership with Oxford University Press to Print Manuals for Reflections: Sorority Body Image Program
June 26, 2008 – ARLINGTON, TEXAS – Delta Delta Delta, a leader among social Greek organizations, is proud to announce its partnership with Oxford University Press to print 20,000 participant manuals for Reflections: Sorority Body Image Program. Tri Delta co-developed Reflections with Carolyn Becker, Ph.D, FAED, of Trinity University, and the local sororities on that campus. Reflections not only reduces eating disorder risk factors and increases body image perceptions among participants, it also enables facilitators to gain valuable academic and leadership experience and promotes a more cohesive community of women on campus.
“We are delighted to partner with a sorority like Tri Delta, a first for us here at Oxford University Press,” said Joan Bossert, VP and Publisher of the Brain & Behavioral Sciences Division, Oxford University Press. “Our mission is to disseminate the best in research to the widest possible audience, and this project allows us to join forces with Tri Delta in equipping young women on campuses across the country with the tools they need to prevent eating disorders and foster a positive body image.”
Reflections represents the first peer-led eating disorder prevention program to effectively challenge the thin ideal among college women. Thanks to Tri Delta’s underwriting of the manual, Reflections is now officially available to Greek organizations and universities nationwide. To date, national sororities Alpha Xi Delta, Delta Gamma and Pi Beta Phi have approved this program and manuals for implementation at one or more campuses, and several other sororities and universities have expressed interest in the program.
With the printing of the Reflections manual, 20,000 women will participate in this program during the next five years. Reflections will be available to organizations and universities nationwide in August.
