Virginia Tech Tri Deltas Respond to Outpouring of Support

Colleen Connolly, collegiate chapter president of the Virginia Tech Tri Delta chapter, shares a message of gratitude with her Tri Delta sisters.

To our fellow Tri Delta sisters:

Monday, April 16, 2007 is a day which the Virginia Tech community, the nation and the world will never forget.  While we watched in horror as our campus, our home, our safe haven fell apart before our eyes, we turned to our Beta Nu sisters for support, for comfort and for some sense of understanding.  As our lives as collegians changed in an instant, we clung to each other to keep alive the love of Tri Delta and the spirit of the Hokies.  We are Virginia Tech, but we are also Tri Delta.  We cannot put into words our gratitude for the outpouring of support, prayers and sympathy from Tri Delta chapters and alumnae worldwide.  While today we wear maroon and orange, every day it is silver, gold and blue which keep us strong women and make our chapter a resilient one.

We do believe that good will come from this devastating tragedy.  If there is one thing we as Tri Deltas can learn from this experience, it is to for a moment strip away the frills and the fun; it is to remember our true purpose.  We as sisters must always perpetuate our bonds of friendship, enhance the strength we have as women, and forever live the true meaning of sisterhood, which is love.

I speak from the hearts of each member of our chapter when I deeply thank you for the support system which you have built around us.  We now know we have family to call upon if and when we are in need.

With much Delta Love,

Colleen Connolly
