Delta Delta Delta Brings Home FCA Awards

The Fraternity Communications Association (FCA) and The North American Interfraternal Foundation (NIF) recently honored Delta Delta Delta Fraternity, a leader among social Greek organizations, with six awards, including three first place honors, during the FCA’s Annual Conference.

Held annually, the FCA/NIF Awards Program honors individuals and Greek organizations that have achieved excellence in their communications initiatives. All applications were evaluated by independent judges based on relevant criteria in each category.

Tri Delta received awards in three categories:  Design, Content/Design and Communication.  The awards included:

  •                     First Place - Annual Report
  •                     First Place - Multimedia Presentation
  •                     First Place - Comprehensive Media Campaign
  •                     Second Place - Logo Design
  •                     Second Place – Story Packaging
  •                     Third Place – Campaign-Specific Web site

Of the six awards, four were for communications efforts related to the Reflections: Body Image Program and Fat Talk Free Week, which launched Reflections nationally in 2008. Additional information about the Reflections program can be found at www.reflectionsprogram.org, and the award-winning multimedia presentation can be viewed here.

“Tri Delta is extremely honored with these awards, and in particular, we are gratified for the recognition of our Reflections program. Eating disorders have the highest mortality rate of any psychological disorder and are one of the most prevalent disorders found in young women.  With more than 10 million women today battling an eating disorder, Tri Delta decided to take a stand and launched the Reflections: Body Image Program in response to this serious issue that affects all women,” said Jackye Brown Clark, Texas/Arlington, president of Tri Delta.

Tri Delta co-developed Reflections with Carolyn Becker, Ph.D, FAED, Clemson, of Trinity University, and the local sororities on that campus. Reflections not only reduces eating disorder risk factors and improves body image perceptions among participants, it also enables facilitators to gain valuable academic and leadership experience and promotes a more cohesive community of women on campus.

Founded in 1888, Tri Delta is a leader among social Greek organizations through its passion for progress and visionary thinking. Through partnerships with nationally recognized organizations like St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, award-winning publications like The Trident, and innovative collegiate and alumnae initiatives, Tri Delta is committed to leveraging our timeless values to revitalize the sorority experience.

FCA (formerly the College Fraternity Editors Association) is composed of fraternities and sororities committed to communicating the highest ideals of the fraternity system and its achievements. NIF is a 501 (c) 3 organization dedicated to promoting and supporting leadership, educational, and research initiatives that advance the North American college fraternal experience.
